Flagstaff Forest Corporate Team Building Experiences

Inclusive, science-based team connection—without competition

Planning a corporate event that feels meaningful, inclusive, and genuinely restorative can be challenging. Forest Connection experiences offer a different approach to team building—one that replaces competition and performance with presence, connection, and shared experience in nature.

Set in Flagstaff’s forests, these guided experiences invite teams to slow down, step away from screens and schedules, and reconnect—with themselves, each other, and the natural world.

Why Forest Connection Works for Teams

Forest Connection (also known as forest bathing) is a science-supported practice shown to reduce stress, restore focus, and support mental and emotional well-being. In a team setting, it also strengthens communication, empathy, and trust.

This is not a hike, meditation or outdoor challenge course. It’s a non-competitive, facilitated experience designed to meet people where they are—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Ideal for teams who want to:

    • Build connection without pressure or comparison
    • Support staff well-being in a tangible, memorable way
    • Offer an inclusive experience accessible to a wide range of abilities
    • Create space for reflection, creativity, and meaningful conversation

Inclusive by Design
Experiences use easy, even trails with minimal elevation change and frequent opportunities to pause, sit, and rest. When available, routes include access to restrooms and nearby shelter, making the experience welcoming for participants with most mobility considerations.

Meet Your Guide

Lee Havenga, brings over two decades of corporate experience and a firsthand understanding of professional stress. After navigating burnout herself, Lee found restoration through a meaningful connection to the forest—an experience later supported by her training as a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide.

Forest “therapy” isn’t psychotherapy; it refers to a research-backed nature practice shown to slow the nervous system, reduce stress, and restore focus. Lee facilitates experiences that feel grounded, inclusive, and professional—never “woo-woo.” Participation is always invitational, allowing individuals to engage in ways that feel comfortable and respectful of personal boundaries.

What a Flagstaff Corporate Forest Team Building Experience Looks Like

Teams gather in a natural setting for a series of guided activities designed to cultivate presence and connection.

Activities may include:
  • Sensory awareness exercises (listening, noticing scents, collective breathing)
  • Short periods of individual exploration balanced with partner or group activities
  • Light creative prompts using natural elements (observation, reflection, storytelling)
  • Group reflection to support shared understanding and connection

Experiences typically include four to five guided activities and often conclude with light snacks and a simple tea ceremony using locally foraged plants.

Locations

Forest Connection experiences are offered at a variety of locations throughout the Flagstaff area, based on group needs and accessibility.

One of our partner location, The Arboretum at Flagstaff, offers amenities well suited for corporate groups, including maintained trails, seating areas, restrooms, and shelter—making it an ideal setting for inclusive, well-supported events
