Discover Forest Bathing in Flagstaff: A Forest Experience You’ll Never Forget — Right Outside Your Door

During your stay at our home on Mt. Elden in Flagstaff, don’t miss the chance to experience shinrin yoku—the Japanese art of bathing the senses in the forest’s atmosphere. This all-ages guided experience invites you to slow down, awaken your senses, and connect deeply with the world’s largest Ponderosa pine forest—something many locals and visitors never truly experience. This isn’t a hike or a tour—it’s a restorative practice that nourishes body and mind, backed by decades of research on the benefits of time in nature.

Who Will Be Your Guide?

I’m Lee Havenga, a certified Forest Therapy Guide trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. My own journey into forest therapy began after a life-changing health diagnosis forced me to slow down and reevaluate how I lived. In the Flagstaff forest, I found a sense of healing, calm, and deep Connection. A forest therapy guide doesn’t “teach” you about nature in the way a naturalist might. Instead, I create the space and structure for you to connect with the forest in your own way—helping you notice details you might otherwise miss, and ensuring a safe, intentional, and open experience.
